155 Year History in Real Estate
Standing The Test of Time and Enduring to Benefit our Customers Throughout the years, Chicago Title

scope of the Company's business extended beyond Cook County, Illinois where started in 1847. In the
late 1940s, Chicago Title moved to 111 W. Washington Street (picture at left) and continued developing
and expanding its extensive statewide organization.
In the 1950s Chicago Title reached beyond its state borders to increase its business reach.
It was then, Chicago Title Insurance Company, as we know it today, was developed as a wholly owned
subsidiary of Chicago Title and Trust Company.
In March 2000, Chicago Title Insurance Company merged with FNF to become the largest title company
in the nation. Much has changed in 150-plus years, but the fundamental principals upon which the
Company was founded are steadfast. They are outstanding customer service, untarnished reputation for
integrity and a rock solid, enduring identity that is synonymous with the necessary expertise to
insure your most prized asset: your real estate.
History of Leadership
We have a history of applying leadership and creative concepts in title coverage of land acquisition
and developments.
The Chicago Title family has more than 150 years of real estate title experience.
We have been the innovators of many revolutionary real estate concepts, including insuring air rights
over property, title insurance for condominiums, interim-construction disbursements, inflation rider
and closing services.
As a result, we enjoy the closest possible relationship with the real estate,
mortgage lending and building industries as well as the legal profession. We developed many of the
methods and techniques which are standard in title insurance today.
